National Physical Planning Board
The National Physical Planning Board (NPPB) was established by the Physical Planning Act 2010. It is the highest body responsible for physical planning in Uganda and has powers to:
i. Control, supervise and administer the assets of the Board in such a manner and for such purposes to promote the purpose for which the Board is established.
ii. Conduct any investigation or inquiry relevant to physical planning development in Uganda.
iii. Issue guidelines, directives or instructions to physical planning committees for proper conduct of physical planning and urban development i.
iv. Order the demolition of any building or structure constructed in contravention of the Physical Planning Act.
v. Delineate the planned area by pegs or any other appropriate form of visible delineation.

The National Physical Planning Board put together this website as part of the effort to improve communication and ensure smooth flow of information with our stakeholders. The website provides a summary of the Board’s mandate and functions, the Departments that support the fulfillment of this mandate, publications and information on and about the National Physical Planning Board. . We expect that this site will inform the general public in and outside the country.
The Board’s mandate cuts across Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government. Not only as the highest body responsible for physical planning in the country, but also ensures that implementation of physical development plans approved are compliant.

The National Physical Planning Board is the supreme body supervising all Physical Planning in the country.
The Body works with other stakeholders including; CSO’s, NGO’S and MDA’s to plan for the country’s land use.
The Body has a function of removing unplanned and illegally constructed structures across the country through coordination with security to enforce the plans and ensure orderly development.
