Manage Assets of the Board

Control, supervise and administer the assets of the Board in such a manner and for such purposes to promote the purpose for which the Board is established. Here the Board through her secretariat is meant to carry out the duties of the Board in terms of control of the Assets which could have been acquired to help with the works of the Board in carrying out her purpose. The secretariat also carries out the instructions from the Board on what is needed to be done in regards to the issues that could have arisen from the failure to follow the Physical Planning Laws.  

Conduct Investigations

Conduct any investigations or inquiry relevant to Physical planning development in Uganda. In cases where there has been a breach in the Physical planning guidelines as per the Physical planning Act, 2010, the Board through her secretariat is instructed to conduct investigation through Uganda Police to ascertain the cause of any structural breakdown /Collapse and report back to the relevant authorities for action for the culprits to be apprehended.

Issue Guidelines/Directives

Issue guidelines, directives or instructions to physical planning committees for proper conduct of physical planning and urban development.  Guidelines /directives are often given to the physical planning committees across the country from time to time to help streamline the rural and urban development taking place in those areas to avoid misplaced development as per the planned land use of that specific region at the time

Order demolition

Order demolition of any building or structure constructed in contravention of the Physical planning Act. The Board carried out a countrywide fuel stations audit last year 2021 and among the issues the Board handled was the illegal structures along the Road reserves, on wetlands, in residential areas. Some of these structures were ordered to be demolished for example in Masaka City, a three storied building in a road reserve was demolished because the owner constructed in contravention of the Physical planning Act.

Delineate the Planned Area

Delineate the planned area by pegs or any other appropriate form of visible delineation. The visible marks are placed in the planned area to avoid or protect/safe guard it for its intended purpose and not to be misused for a different purpose for that matter.
